A twisted tale of justice and grace in a lawless and desolate land...
What Child Is This encompasses the definition of grace and mercy, transcending three generations from 1870 to 1945. The story embodies compassion, lost hope, sacrifice, and the choice of life over death. Justice is delivered supernaturally over the many revengeful worthy acts which take place in this story, from beginning to end. Wyola Everest is a beautiful young woman, in love with a very good young man named Colton Jaminson. They have embarked together on a dream of an amazing future with huge, lifelong plans. On their journey, they are abruptly and unexpectedly thrown into a fight for survival, derived through evil, at the greatest of all costs, their own life self-sacrifice. Families, friends, and enemies alike lay claim to both good and evil throughout this historic adventure. Who will win or lose, and at what price? Our story takes us through three generations of a family born through hate and evil, where each character reveals their true heart; not by their actions or words alone, but by way of their sacrifice or tempestuous demons, each residing side by side, living within every man and in every human heart.

I finally got this book and I have been reading it practically non stop and I couldn’t put it down. I loved the story. The love story of Colton and Wyola was so beautiful. I have lived through seeing a lot of prejudice against people of color, especially in the 40’s and 50’s so I could remember how badly treated they were. I always felt sorry for them. I had many school friends who were Negro and we got along great. I was never prejudiced and I am a believer in Jesus Christ as my LORD and Savior. I admired Colton’s courage and in spite of everything he went through, he remained an honest man. I cried many a tear in my heart as different ones were killed. They were good people trying to do the right and see justice win out. I understood how Colton felt about the baby not being his son and how his love for Wyola made him love that the baby was part of her and love won out! Excellent story! Well written! I would love to see this on film. I am so proud of you, Kurtis! Bravo! I will definitely be sharing this with my friends and encouraging them to purchase the book!★★★★★Alexandra Keller
"What Child Is This by Kurtis Anton is such a fascinating and beautiful book. Every second I had I would continue to read, I couldn't put it down. I was blown away by it. I don't know when I read a book the last time that moved and touched me so deeply, that stayed and stays with me so much, all the stories and characters... I felt like I was living it, I was part of it, experiencing it. I still feel every moment of it and it's so in me. I absolutely love this book, the stories, the characters, it's so real and so deep. I could continue to tell how much I loved it but no words will be good enough to explain how deeply I was moved by it and how much I love it."★★★★★David G.

This was a very well written western era novel that had me hooked from the first chapter. Suspense, drama, intrigue and more twists. The characters were so real you could literally love and appreciate the good ones and hate the bad ones, in this epic story of good versus evil. I appreciated the style of writing and hope someday I can see it as a movie! I totally enjoyed this book which was so interesting took me only 2 days to read. I would totally love reading another novel by this author.★★★★★Lisa

I really enjoyed this novel! Our family happened to be traveling down the 395 this summer as I finished the book. The artful description of the California landscape and the historical foundation really made the story come to life for me. The characters, spanning generations, told a gripping story of love, loss & grace. The end had a twist that had me go back and read the first chapters again to truly understand the significance. A real page turner!★★★★★Bree M.

"I love reading western novels, and this book is one of the best I have read. Mr. Anton brought lots of suspense to this Christian western mystery, and I loved the twist at the end. It was very well written and holds one attention throughout the story. Very well done."★★★★★

Author, Director, Producer, CMO
Kurtis Anton began his creative adventure of story writing by producing films. At the time of this book’s printing, he has produced and co-produced thirty-two full-length feature films over a short period of time, his hope being to one day take What Child is This to the big screen. One of Kurtis’ pastimes includes skiing, and over the course of a decade, he took on the ascent and descent of 24 peaks in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and Western US. This grew his boyhood passion for the Old West and the history of the dramatic migrations of emigrants worldwide who made their way to California to make a life. The many historical markers, landmarks, old structures, huts, and mining caves he took refuge in along his solo journeys inspired this amazing story. Kurtis now has numerous novels in the works, including his next book, Janie Fine.
